The MAGPIE (the sMArt Green Ports as Integrated Efficient multimodal hubs) and Green Inland Ports (GRIP) projects are pleased to announce that registration is now open for a collaborative workshop, taking place 17-18 September.
GRIP workshop: 18 September
The Green Inland Ports Study identifies factors for sustainable development in inland ports and proposes solutions for sustainable practices. The project plays an important role in shaping EU policies to improve the sustainability of inland navigation.
The main topics within the project focus on assessing the environmental impact of inland ports, exploring sustainable solutions for short-range Inland Waterway Transportation (IWT) and urban logistics, exploring innovative digital solutions for sustainable port development. One of the end goals is developing a pilot Environmental and Sustainable Management System (ESMS) tools for effective environmental management in ports.
In GRIP workshop on 18 September, these key topics will be discussed and touched upon. In the presentation, we will outline the findings from the study which has been ongoing since 2022. The presentation will be followed by a discussion and Q&A together with partners who work on both the GRIP and MAGPIE projects. The GRIP study is in collaboration with Ecorys, CE Delft, Planco, EICB, Panteia, Erasmus University of Rotterdam.
This workshop will take place on the 18 September at the Welcome Hotel and will be streamed online.
MAGPIE workshop: 17 September
The MAGPIE project aims to initiate demonstration and pilot projects within the dynamic environment of the Port of Rotterdam, DeltaPort (Wesel, Germany), HAROPA Port (Le Havre, Rouen, Paris; France) and Port of Sines (Portugal).
The workshop on 17 September will explore technological advances in relation to green energy supply in ports, and will be a great opportunity to discuss, exchange and shape the future of inland ports. The workshop will take place in the Welcome Hotel, Wesel, Germany.
Key points of discussion include:
- Port development in harmony with the local population
- The importance of ports for regional and urban development
- The green port of the future as facilitator of innovative transport concepts and supporter of the energy transition
